History
965
Centuries ago, the Frost Giants were planning to attack Earth, starting with Tønsberg. However, the Asgardian army, led by Odin, defended this realm and created a war between the two races. Around the last century in which humans stopped worshiping the Asgardians as Gods, the Tesseract was lost and made its way to Tønsberg, where it was kept for centuries.[1]
1942
During World War II, the German SS officer and leader of HYDRA, Johann Schmidt, found the Tesseract. It was within a box behind Nidhogg in a sculptured mural of Yggdrasil world tree, located inside a church full of Viking warriors entombed within its walls. Schmidt stole the Tesseract in order to power his weaponry, and ordered his army to destroy the village.[2]
