- "We're not agents of nothing, we're agents of S.H.I.E.L.D!"
- ―Phil Coulson
With Colonel Glenn Talbot now hot on their trail, Coulson and his team seek refuge in the last place anyone would look, where they begin to uncover S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most dangerous secrets -- secrets that could destroy them all.
The Good Guys Edit
After the events of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Turn, Turn, Turn" the team is picked up at the Hub. Fitz-Simmons and Agent Triplett fix the Bus while Coulson and Skye learn that only a few bases are clear of HYDRA agents. Coulson gets a clean line to the UN and there he finds Colonel Glenn Talbot who informs him that he's coming. Coulson gets the team and heads out before the colonel comes ,as he clearly wants to either subpoena everyone or kill them. Agent Triplett asks to join the team. Coulson refuses until Simmons vouches for Triplett's loyalty.
On the bus Coulson asks Skye to erase their identities and confiscate everyone's badges because S.H.I.E.L.D is being hunted. Skye calls Ward and is still completely unaware of his betrayal. May walks into Coulson's office and they have an argument about Coulson's orders. May thinks he is being manipulated by HYDRA, because the T.A.H.I.T.I. program was headed by someone other than Director Fury. Coulson sends her out of his office. Skye return with everyone's badges, which Coulson places into his safe. Skye catches a glimpse of light coming out of Coulson's badge. It turns out to be a set of co-ordinates. While the team is worried about this being a trap, Coulson is positive that Director Fury is the one who sent the coordinates.
The team lands in the snow, and hikes seven miles to the exact coordinates. When they reach the coordinates, there seems to be nothing there. Coulson, on the verge of breaking down, shouts his worries and heart out, and then throws his badge into the air. A cannon comes out of the snow and shoots it. Coulson understands there is a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. base there, and presents himself. A voice answers - "We've been expecting you."
Inside the secret base they meet an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D named Eric Koenig. He shows them around and introduce the base as 'Providence'. When the team asks about Director Fury, Koenig answers that Director Fury is in fact dead. Koenig also tells them The Fridge has fallen. Skye goes out and calls Ward. Koenig, suspicious of the call, takes Coulson to his office where he tells him the truth - Fury's alive though no one knows except a select few people, including Agent Hill and Captain America. Coulson doesn't like keeping secrets from his team, but he agrees to keep that secret after Koenig tells him that Fury himself asked for this.
The Bad Guys Edit
Garrett and Ward, along with HYDRA agents manage to free Raina. Although she is disappointed that Garrett doesn't have psychic powers, she agrees to be in charge of the next phase of the Centipede program. While Ward and Garrett go over their plans, Ward gets a call from Skye. Ward misleads her while she's telling him that their identities are being erased. Ward gives Raina the hard-disk which contains Simmons' research data on Coulson and Skye's blood, including everything they had on GH-325, which Raina needs for Centipede. Garrett and Ward tell Raina they're going to The Fridge to raid it.
When Ward and Garrett arrive at the Fridge. The agents at the door refuse to let them in until agent Hand arrives. Ward tries to get inside using a threat that agent Hand won't be happy about coming only to convince them to open the door. When a helicopter starts shooting at them, the agents decide to ignore protocol and let them in. Inside the elevator, Ward kills them both. They free the prisoners, which include a lot of people with powers. Garrett shows Ward that the Slingshot program (The one used to get rid of 0-8-4's and incredibly dangerous weapons) is a fake and really all of Slingshot's weapons and artifacts are in the Fridge. This includes the Berserker's staff and the 0-8-4 recovered from Peru. Ward uses the 0-8-4 to show Garrett there is a floor underground, which contains the Gravitonium.
On returning to their base, Raina tells them that only Skye can access the hard-disk due to its encryption. Ward decides to go back to his old team to accomplish this. Garrett helps him sell it by beating him while Ward repeatedly says, "I am an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.". He gets to the secret base and meets Skye. He tells her he's okay, but may have couple of broken ribs. Skye wants him to get looked at, and then consider having a drink together.
Garrett and Raina welcome a bitter Quinn back into their operation. Quinn protests his being kept in the dark, before Garrett presents a gift: Quinn’s confiscated Gravitonium.
