What They Become is the tenth episode of Season 2. The episode aired on December 9, 2014 on ABC.
Whitehall and Coulson's forces take part in an explosive confrontation that changes everyone's fate; Skye uncovers things about her past, and steps into the future.
Hydra had taken Skye along with Ward to see her father. The crew was about to get hit by some missiles, but cloaked just in time. Meanwhile Ward kept his promise to Skye and to her to see her dad which was his idea. Skye was completely shocked at what she thought her dad once was but he told her the real reason of what happened and that Whitehall killed her mother. The Dr. left the room leaving his daughter in total pain and shock. The SHIELD crew prepares a rescue mission to get into the temple and get Skye. Whitehall ties Cal, Skye, and Ward in a storage room. The doctor escapes and attempts to murder Whitehall for what he did to his wife.As the doctor was about to strike Whitehall, Coulson shoots him. Cal and Coulson fight until Skye intervenes. She tells her father to leave or she will kill him. Once Cal leaves, Skye breaks down in tears and tells Coulson that she is going to find Raina, despite his protests. While he was in the pit Coulson was looking for Skye who went after Raina in the temple. Both ladies had reached the obelisk and were finally going to find out what they become.Trip finds Skye and Raina in the temple and all three people watch to see what the artifact does. The artifact does something incredible which turns both ladies to stone statues. Trip shoots the Obelisk in an attempt to save Skye, but shards embed themselves in his stomach, and he begins to turn in to a stone statue as well. The temple starts collapsing and the episode ends with Raina and Skye encased in stone, and Trip turned to stone.
A man enters a study in an unkown location and opens a glowing box to reveal a second Diviner. Putting it down he answers a phone and asks the person on the other end if they are seeing the same thing and "there's someone new". He informs the person to tell the "others" he will handle it and puts the phone down revealing he has no eyes.
